If the guillotine malfunctioned, could someone survive it?

Deera

No. No way

It happened when the blade got dull during multiple executions. You know how when the vacuum cleaner won’t pick up a piece of yarn the first time you run over it so you just try it three or four more times to get it?

So, just like you and I would do: recock the damn thing and drop it a few more times until it gets the job done.

The same thing absolutely happened with axeman executioners by the way.

By the way, the Germans in France guillotine way more people than the French Revolution – almost five times as many.

Good ol’ kraut engineering: Germany guillotines were built like hydraulic meat slicers with the finest Solingen steel.

German human rights hero Sophie Schol lost her head in Munich stadium 22 February 1943.
