The Captain and Tennille were husband and wife duo Daryl Dragon and Toni Tennille.
Dragon first met Tennille in 1972 when he was the keyboard player for the Beach Boys and acquired his stage name “Captain” due to his habit of wearing a ship captain’s hat when performing
Tennille also played keyboards for the Beach Boys, before the two left to perform as a duo and landing a recording contract with A&M.
They had a #1 smash with their first single release, a cover of Neil Sedaka’s Love Will Keep Us Together in 1975.
