Two years ago today, I was at my boyfriend’s house when his dad called to say he was bringing home a dog. This dog had been abandoned in a backyard after his owners moved away. When Bronx arrived, he was very thin, dirty, freezing, and scared of people—it was clear he had been treated badly.
From the first moment, my boyfriend and I knew we had to give Bronx the second chance he deserved. After many vet visits, training, and lots of love, he has become healthy, full of energy, and a totally spoiled “ladies’ man.” Bronx is truly the joy of our lives, and I couldn’t imagine a better companion.
Sadly, the early neglect has caused problems—Bronx now has hip issues, and his left hip will need to be replaced. For now, we manage his pain with medicine while we look for ways to afford his surgery. No matter what, I am determined to do everything I can to help him live comfortably.
