What are the most insane things that American tourists do abroad?

Deera

My girlfriend ( now wife of 30 years) was briefly a researcher at the Harwell nuclear medical research facility in Oxfordshire. She rented an admittedly picturesque thatched cottage near a country estate close to an ancient church and a lovely pub.

Edit

Just found this picture of the lovely pub.

I used to visit most weekends. Often our weekend “sleep ins” were frequently disturbed by american tourists knocking on the door demanding to be let in to have a look around. Somewhat rudely We used to tell them it wasn’t a theme park but a home. Although looking back I can see it must have looked very touristy to US visitors.

Edit.

I didn’t expect such a high response to such a short answer. Much less to stimulate a discussion of US gun laws in the comments. Thank you.

I did consider putting a sign on the front garden but it would have spoiled the look of the cottage. I didn’t want to ruin the look of this lovely village. I wasn’t very rude, but I was a young man visiting his girlfriend who he only ever saw at weekends. My politeness depended on whether it was before or after our Saturday morning “sleep in”.
