Hyena are supreme predators. However, if one does attack you, you can potentially escape it by climbing up a tree or by making loud noises. (Don’t run if poss)
If you can’t and are taken by surprise, this usually occurs when people are sleeping in tents. They awake to being dragged by the face by a hyena. Sometimes, people are able to get loose and fight back viciously enough by going for eyes or hitting w objects that make hyena move on.
Hyenas bacteria from their mouth is technically what is most lethal. Once in any wound, the diseases and infections you’re susceptible to are extreme. They’re constantly eating decaying carrion and other disgusting things that make their mouths a cess pool for nasty bacteria.
Is it possible to survive an attack? It’s possible. But, generally speaking the hyena will make short work of us. They’re surprisingly large, with big females (spotted) getting close to 200lbs(180ish). Much too large to overcome and worse, they’re rarely alone!
